This “in-the-weeds” festival is set in an urban-farm/backyard with a classy outdoor stage, lighted porta-potties, artwork and bonfire.  BYO cooler, drinks, hot dogs, marshmallows, picnic fare, lawn chairs…and bring your buns.

Featuring four great bands:
6:00 – 7:00 pm: Jazz, Brazilian Style: Mistura FinaJordan Shipley & Michael McClintock with Shay Estes
Mistura Fina (“a fine blend,” “melting pot” in Brazilian Portuguese), an authentic ensemble performing a unique repertoire of Jazz and authentic Brazilian music; MPB, samba, bossa nova, and chorinho. From Artists like Guinga, Caetano Veloso, Hermeto Pascoal, Djavan, Pixinguinha, and Antonio Carlos Jobim.  Jordan Shipley on guitars, cavaquinho, and mandolin; Michael McClintock on guitar; and Shay Estes on vocals in Portuguese and English. www.MisturaFinaBand.com.

7:15 – 8:10 pm: World Folk: PassportStan Kessler & Beau Bledsoe with Pat Conway
Stan Kessler and Beau Bledsoe will be unveiling their first Passport CD of traditional music from countries such as Cuba, Peru, Brazil, Argentina, Spain, France, Portugal, Turkey and Armenia—with jazz sprinkled on top.

On trumpet and fluglehorn, Stan’s (www.stantonkessler.com) repertoire includes Jazz, R&B, Funk, Brazilian and Afro-Cuban styles—who has Stan not performed or recorded with? Classically-trained and internationally-recognized, Beau (www.beaubledsoe.com) has been described as “… hot as raging fire” (guitar, oud, flamenco, classical, tango, fado). Special guest Pat Conway, percussionist, wind player and composer, also has international travels under his belt and is versatile in theater and musical stylings.

8:30 – 9:20 pm: 9-Piece Variety with Horns: Black Tie Billie with Stan Kessler & Dave Chael
Black Tie Billie will also be unveiling at Weedstock. As the in-house MOJO Productions Band, they specialize in male/female four-part harmonies, great toe-tapping tunes and a diverse repertoire of The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Doobie Brothers, Hornsby, Joe Cocker, Johnny Cash, Delbert McClinton, The Pretenders and everything in between to ensure the dancing crowd is “Feelin’ Alright”! Brad Brown, Chris Lewis, Emily Lykens, Scott McCuiston, David Nebel, Brett Schlaegel—with special guests: Stan Kessler (trumpet), Dave Chael (sax), Marion Morris (percussion).

9:35 – 10:30 pm: Blues, Kansas City Style: The Blues Notions with Millie Edwards
Kansas City’s Gentlemen of Jump making a rare appearance (Tom “Trashmouth” Baker, Karl Angerer, Tim Osburn, Cardy Quintero, Mike “Shinetop” Sedovic). The Blues Notions exemplify the Kansas City tradition from the Jay McShann/Big Joe Turner era and also are partial to Chicago-style blues. Special guest Millie Edwards, a Wild Woman with a big voice and even bigger heart, has made tremendous contributions to the KC Jazz Scene and is a perfect-o complement to the Gentlemen of Jump.
