New Food Pantry Helps Those With Food Allergies

The Seventh Day Adventist have long been one of the best sources of information on vegetarian cooking and food preparation. Now the New Haven Seventh-day Adventist Church in Overland Park, KS is helping low income folks with food allergies afford the food they need to survive and be healthy. Their new food pantry is called Renewed Health, they are open on Wednesdays 9:30 AM till Noon and they serve anyone that has a doctors note, that says they need special food. The pantry is open to people in MO and KS.

Host Richard Tripp will be talking with founders of the pantry, Amy Goode and Emily Brown about this effort to help those in need of good food that will sustain them and the types of conditions people have that require a special diet.

Memorial Day Activities

We will have a conversation with Sargent Major Phillip Hoafler about the activities and ceremony to be held at the Kansas City Vietnam Veterans Memorial. We will let you know some of the other activities you can participate in to thank the men and women that have given their lives to protect the freedoms we all enjoy.


“Tomorrowland,” Disney’s big budget sci-fi extravaganza and two art house flicks — “Kumiko, the Treasure Hunter,” “The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared” — are on Russ’ agenda this week.


Susan and Russ cover “Far from the Madding Crowd,” a lushly produced romance adapted from Thomas Hardy’s classic 1874 novel.

Does the World Bank Work for Working People? Not according to a new study about how poor people are chased off their land to make way for shiny new projects and on Pioneer Women, Susan interviews a woman welder. All this on the Heartland Labor Forum. Thursday at 6pm, rebroadcast Friday at 5am.
