According to the Federal Government, there are over 900 toxins remaining on the grounds of the Bannister Federal Complex due to the activities of the Allied/Bendix/Honeywell weapons plant.  Over 154 workers have died and countless others are sick from working, not only at the weapons plant, but the other Federal Agencies housed at that complex over the years such as DFAS, GSA, and the IRS. Pullium, Highlights from the Kansas City March Against Monsanto event held on Saturday.   Angela Cooper's speech: Hello, I am Angela Cooper. I am with THE CHILDREN OF VIETNAM VETERANS HEALTH ALLIANCE. My fathers name is Charles S. Pullium, United States Army, 82nd airborne Fort Bragg, and a special forces advisor in Vietnam 1963 to 1964. In Vietnam, Monsanto was a company responsible for making defoliants and herbicides used in the Vietnam war. They were given color-coded names. The toxic chemical herbicide orange, better know as AGENT ORANGE was called that because of the orange bands on the 55 gallon drums. The US government poured millions of gallons of agent Orange from crop dusting planes all over Vietnam to kill off vegetation,  consistently from 1961-1971. In the crime against humanity the us government called "Operation Ranch Hand". They used Agent Orange as part of their "rainbow herbicide" warfare. My father and I were speaking just the other day, right before a skin cancer removal surgery he has had for the 16th time, about Vietnam. I said how awful it was for him that he has cancer all over because of AGENT ORANGE. He replied "we were lucky those fly boys,(meaning air force soldiers)man they swam in that shit. I just have skin cancer". Monsanto killed and caused disease to so many of our soldiers from all branches of military but the air force handled Agent Orange the most. How awful to think that Monsanto made this toxic chemical that killed over 400,000 and still maims millions. I guess I was lucky. I wasn't born with only skin where eyes should be, I was born with eyes. I wasn't born with spina bifida, missing limbs, cancer or an unthinkable amount of other ailments that you can see caused by AGENT ORANGE. Yes, I have some ailments,  along with so many other children of Vietnam veterans, that you can't see. However, the department of veterans affairs fought and still fights our United States soldiers of Vietnam, saying they were and are not dying from AGENT ORANGE and that their offspring wasn't effected by AGENT ORANGE. The department of veteran administration (the va) covered up for the corporation who made this poison, they still are covering for this same Monsanto corporation 52 years later. Monsanto nor the VA are paying for all the health care needs of the American soldiers they caused to get severely sick and in hundreds of thousands of cases die, because of the chemicals Monsanto made. Monsanto is making millions of dollars on putting patents on seeds, suing farmers, getting tax breaks from OUR government and creating Round Up poison.  The government is not being FOR THE PEOPLE in this instance at all. The government actually makes laws to protect Monsanto while they commit these atrocities . The government ignores most all diseases to the veterans of Vietnam and all but one of the birth defects of children of Vietnam veterans. Unless it is spina bifida the government doesn't even recognize anything as an illness associated with AGENT ORANGE in the children of male Vietnam vets. Even though there are so many studies that prove that AGENT ORANGE causes many hundreds of life long ailments. My son, that has tourette syndrome, is not acknowledged as part of Monsanto's crime, even though studies show a higher rate of children with turrets being born to Vietnam veterans or those veterans children. If you yourself were to just look at the children born with birth defects in Vietnam because of agent Orange, you wouldn't even need the overwhelmingly studies to tell you the reality of it. You will see it with your eyes, in a way studies can't show. So many horrible birth defects to an overwhelming amount of children. But the government still covers up for this corporation. FOR 52 YEARS! What's in it for the government? The US government politicians get big campaign funds from Monsanto so why worry about the people, right? Monsanto supplies the sick people, by poisoning us and giving us cancer, KKFI 90.1 FM clean 60:00 March Against Monsanto http://www.kkfi.org/program-episodes/march-against-monsanto/ http://www.kkfi.org/program-episodes/march-against-monsanto/#comments Fri, 16 May 2014 15:25:10 +0000 http://www.kkfi.org/?post_type=program-episodes&p=33941 http://www.kkfi.org/program-episodes/march-against-monsanto/feed/ 0 On May 24th, there will be March Against Monsanto rallies all over the world, including 3 in Kansas and 7 in Missouri.  We'll hear from folks organizing in Kansas City and Lawrence. On Saturday, May 17, Kansas City will join communities around the country to ask President Obama and local officials to reject the Keystone XL pipeline, offshore drilling, and other dirty fuel projects that threaten our communities and destabilize our climate. Here in Kansas City, folks will stand together to oppose not only the tar sands and other forms of extreme energy but will reject Big Oil's pollution of democracy by ritually cleansing Uncle Sam before marching through the Plaza to the Brush Creek Pedestrian Bridge to take our photo linking hands. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUlchb8DUq0&feature=youtu.be) John Kurmann will be on the program to bring us up to date on this action. This National Day of Action is being jointly organized by the Tar Sands Coalition and Hands Across the Sand / Hands Across the Land. Hands, founded in 2010, grew into an international movement after the BP oil disaster in April of that year. People came together to join hands, forming symbolic barriers against spilled oil and the impact of other forms of extreme energy. The local event is organized by 350KC (350KC.org).
