ERISA’s Demise: The Domino Effect and Huelga: Story from a Casino Utility Closet

Last Fall Congress passed and President Obama signed a so-called Pension Reform Act allowing employers to reduce or suspend pension payments to retirees if a pension plan is “deeply troubled.” Teamster retirees face cuts. This week on the Heartland Labor Forum we explore this issue and ask if there will be a domino effect, and then autoworker and writer Tino Scalici reads his short story Huelga or Strike about a lefty Cuban immigrant turned supervisor and the crazy opening day at a not-to-be-named local casino. Thursday at 6pm, rebroadcast Friday at 5am.
