Susan Clark

Susan Clark began her path as a musician at the age of six, inspired by her older brother’s studies as a jazz pianist. Susan quickly began playing piano, flute and guitar.  However, it is her soulful voice that is perhaps her best instrument. Over the last 30 years Susan has played in many bands across the country encompassing a wide array of genres including jazz, folk and blues.  As a vocalist, she has performed on many album projects for other musicians and has also composed and performed on several jingles, both on the local and national level.

Susan was named a finalist in Kerrville’s New Folk Songwriting Series in 1991, 1993 and 1995, taking first place in 1998 and returning again in 2006. Take Me Home, Susan’s 1999 release was showcased by the  National Folk Alliance, and earned several first place awards from New Mexico’s premier music competition, The Mic Line Awards. Susan’s album, Waitin’ For The Wind, was awarded the prestigious title of Best CD of Year, along with awards for Best Song and Best Producer at the 2007  New Mexico Music Awards.

In addition to Susan’s songwriting success, she works in several Albuquerque nursing centers, using music as therapy with seniors who are challenged by Alzheimer’s and dementia.

In 2009, Susan became the music director at The Rio Grande Center for Spiritual Living in Albuquerque, where she performs almost every Sunday with a trio, often showcasing her original work.

In April of 2013, s released “Sunlight of the Soul,” her first album of original inspirational songs.  Susan recently received an Honorable Mention for her song, “Stand as You Are Able” at the 2014 Empower Music Posi Awards and was invited to Orlando to present her music to an audience of enthusiastic positive music fans.

Here’s what people are saying about the new album–

From Eddie Watkins Jr.:

“The most impressive thing to me about the music is your voice.  I am in love with your voice! My favorite songs are Pray, Come and Fill me and my most favorite is Simple Song! You are as good as anyone out there.  You are really talented and I just wanted to chime in on the CD.

From Award-winning, Positive Music songwriter, recording artist and performer Robert Anderson:

“You gifted me with your ‘Sunlight …” CD at the POSI fest in Orlando last week.  Not only is your production/producer, musician roster and artwork solid and inspiring, but your songwriting, vocals, and piano/guitar playing are wonderfully spot-on.  Most people don’t realize what a huge challenge it may be to complete a quality recording project … well done!”

From Margaret Callahan, Client Services Specialist,CBRE, Brokerage Services, Albuquerque, NM:

“OMG—Thank you  so much for your CD, Sunlight of the Soul.  It saved my emotional life!!!! I put it in my car player and after listening to your music and lyrics…. “Let go let God,” “You are where you are supposed to be” and “Come and Fill Me,” etc…. my entire attitude changed. I sat in the car and listened to the entire CD and felt at peace.”
