Wednesday MidDay Medley Celebrates RSD with Christian LaBeau & Britt Adair of Josey Records Duncan Burnett & Promise Clutter of Revolution Records + Chris Meck and The Guilty Birds

Wednesday MidDay Medley plays musical releases from 10 area bands participating in Record Store Day, Saturday, April 16, 2016. Record Store Day is designed to celebrate your local indie record stores. Mark plays music from: Mr. and the Mrs., Open Fields, Momma’s Boy, BLK FLANL, Youth Pool, I Heard A Lion, Fiction Department, Drugs & Attics, The Fog, and The Hearts of Darkness. Nearly 50 MidCoastal bands are playing In-Store, (and just outside-of-store) shows at: Mills Record Company, Records With Merritt, Josey Records KC, Revolution Records, Vinyl Renaissance, and Brothers Music. (Love Garden in Lawrence and Vinyl Underground at 7th Heaven are also part of Record Store Day.)

We’ll also play new releases from: Erik Voeks, Chris Meck and The Guilty Birds, The UKs, Real Adults, and from The Record Machine’s new sampler: How To Keep Dreaming Vol. III, released Friday, April 8, with a special show at Mills Record Company with BROTHER and Youth Pool, a benefit for Spay & Neuter KC. At 10:30, Christian LaBeau & Britt Adair of Josey Records KC join us to share information about their live “In-Store” performances for Record Store Day, starting at 2:00 PM with The Hearts of Darkness, The Fog, Drugs & Attics, The New Riddim, The Greeting Committee, Nature Boys, Shy Boys, and The Grisly Hand closing the night at 9:00 PM. Christian & Britt will share details about Josey Record’s exclusive vinyl compilation release featuring five Kansas City bands. At 11:00, Chris Meck and The Guilty Birds join us live in our 90.1 FM studios. Chris Meck was lead guitarist and founder of The Gaslights, Atlantic Fadeout, and Tiny Horse. He also plays with The Architects. Chris Meck and The Guilty Birds include Chris Meck on guitar & vocals, Calandra Ysquierdo on bass & vocals, and Michelle Bacon on drums & vocals. Chris Meck and The Guity Birds are releasing their debut full-length album, “It’s 4 A.M. Somewhere!” Friday, April 8, at The Tank Room, 1813 Grand Blvd, with special guests Westerners, and Claire & the Crowded Stage. Doors at 8:30, show starts at 9:30. At 11:30 Duncan Burnett & Promise Clutter of Revolution Records join us to share information about their Record Store Day, April 16. Revolution Records is a pledged RSD retailer and will have many of the exclusive releases that are available only at independent record shops. Revolution Records will open at 8:00 AM and their live “In-Store” performances start at 6:00 PM with: Fiction Department, Noah Davis and Co, Instant Karma, and I Heard A Lion. Revolution Records was formerly named Zebedee’s RPM on West 39th street but changed their name when they moved to 1830 Locust Street, in the Crossroads, in the space formerly known as Midwestern Musical Company.
