A Job Fair For Veterans, The Homeless and The Formerly Incarcerated

The 1st Annual Employment Team – Entry Level Job & Resource Fair is a colaboration of Service Agencies on both sides of the state Line. The job fair will be held Tuesday, June 28, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Jack Reardon Convention Center, 520 Minnesota Ave, Kansas City, KS. The First hour will reserved for pre-registered job seekers. To pre-register, attend a workshop at the VA, Metropolitan Lutheran Ministries, various KC Public Libraries, Department for Children and Families in KCK, Catholic Charities and pick up a PASSPORT. (See List below)
Bring it to the Job Fair for 9:00 a.m. admission and FREE GIFTS! There will be more than 22 employers with jobs available participating.

Host Jeff Humfeld will talk with Jacob Bosch, Program Manager, Metro Lutheran Ministry and Mark Smith, Contract Employment Services for State of KS about this opportunity for Veterans, the homeless and the formerly incarcerated to find entry level jobs.

The Calendar for June 6, 2016

There will be a meeting for former workers at the Bannister Nuclear Weapons Plant and interested public at the Southeast Community Center 4201 E. 63th St, KCMO on Monday June 6th, from 6:00pm-8:00pm. They will be discussing the health issues and compensation for affected workers. In attendance and participating will be, Representatives for the , Rep. Emanuel Cleaver will have  aide present , Kansas City 5th District City Councilpersons Alisha Canady, Lee Barnes, also Ann Suellentrop of The Alliance for Nuclear Accountability, Maxine Pennington Chemist and Dr. Marcus Iszard Toxicologist.

The Criminal Justice Task Force will meet Monday, June 6th from 6:45 to 8:45 pm at the Church of the Good Shepard, 4947 Chouteau Drive, KCMO. The Criminal Justice Task Force mission is to lobby the Missouri State Legislature for sentencing laws that are fair and humane. They believe that all Americans deserve basic human rights, including protection against cruel and unusual punishment, and that begins with a fair sentencing structure. The Kansas City Chapter of Missourian’s For Alternatives to the Death Penalty will meet Tuesday, June 7th from 6:30 to 8pm at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church, 4501 Walnut, KCMO.
