Wednesday MidDay Medley plays from some of our favorite MidCoastal full-length or EP or single releases of 2016 – so far. This is part one of a two week special. We’ll play representative tracks from: Doby Watson, The Buhs, iLLPHONICS, Chad Rex, Fullbloods, Psychic Heat, The Sexy Accident, Erik Voeks, Victor & Penny, Kevin Morby, Anson The Ornery, Dressy Bessy, Cambodian Space Project, and Leyla McCalla.
At 10:30 we’ll talk with Heidi Lynne Gluck about the 2nd Annual Girls Rock! Camp Showcase, at Liberty Hall on Saturday, June 11, at 7:00 pm. This event is part of Girls Rock Camp. In one week Girls Rock! Lawrence campers learn to play an instrument, form a band, and write a song. The camp provides a uniquely supportive environment to create both music and a healthy self-image within a non-competitive learning environment. At 11:00, Anson the Ornery joins us live in our 90.1 FM studios. Anson will share new music and chat about his Singles Release show at Mills Record Company, 314 Westport Rd, KCMO, on Friday, June 10, at 7:00 PM with CS Luxem. Anson the Ornery will premiere two singles from his upcoming conceptual album F errule. Named for a ring of metal that joins two objects together, this full sensory multimedia spectacle endeavors to connect the audience with the supernatural world. A limited amount of handmade “Screaming Wraith” prints containing download codes for the singles, Inauguration, and Similaire will be available for purchase during the event.
