Jaws of Justice Radio
It is the intention of Jaws of Justice Radio to investigate how to achieve justice in America, this includes issues of economic injustice, political injustice and the criminal justice system. We want to put a human face on those caught in the grasp of injustice and those that are part of an unjust system. We strive to dispel the misconceptions created by the news and entertainment industry, politicians and our educational system.
The Criminal Appeals Process With Attorney Kent Gipson
For the past 30 years, Kent Gipson has focused his practice exclusively on representing citizens that have been accused or convicted of crimes at both trial and on appeal. Over the years, he has represented dozens of criminal defendants at trial before a jury. In recent years, the bulk of his practice has been devoted to appellate and post-conviction litigation in both state and federal courts in Missouri and in a few other states. Many observers and commentators have described the post-conviction process in state and federal court as a procedural minefield that lays traps for the uninformed or inexperienced prisoner or counsel. If a mistake is made or a deadline missed early on in the process, this could result in procedural bars in later post-conviction proceedings.
On this edition of Jaws of Justice Radio host Latahra Smith talks with local Appellate Lawyer, Kent Gipson about the criminal appeals process and the appellate system on the federal and state level. He will give us a basic understanding of the appellate system and why it is necessary. We hope to learn how it works and why sometimes it doesn’t work.

To End The War On Drugs aka The War Of Terror
In March of 2014 Jaws of Justice Radio broadcast a call in show with Dean Becker about his work trying to dismantle the War on Drug. Today we are going to replay the first half of that show but will not be taking calls.
Dean Becker started his career in law enforcement as a military policeman and continued as a police officer once he returned to civilian life. Since 2002 he has been a member of and speaker for Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP) and produces the 420 Drug War News as well as the Unvarnished Truth out of KPFT in Houston, a Pacifica Network Community Radio Station.
Host Jessica Thomas will talk with Dean about his new book To End The War On Drugs: A Guide For Politicians, The Press and Public, the radio show and dismantling the war on drugs.

The Census Bureau has requested comments on its proposed residence rules for the next census, which include a plan to once again count incarcerated people as if they were residents of the facility where they happen to be located on Census Day, rather than in their home county.
