WINGS
WINGS: Women's International News Gathering Service is an all-woman independent radio production company that produces and distributes news and current affairs programs by and about women around the world.
Young women in Mombasa formed an organization called Pwani Teknowgalz that teaches girls and ladies coding, website creation, and app development. So far, they worked with students in 180 secondary schools and 4 universities. Teachers and students talk about their projects and emphasize the importance of female mentors and role models.
Speaking: Aisha Abdul-Qadir, Deputy Director of Teknowgalz; Latifah Wanja, age 20, building an app for home security and proper disposal of garbage; Laura Achieng, 17, building an app to facilitate student access to books and other materials; Ruth Kaveke, 27, is Executive director of Pwani Teknowgalz.
