The Foolkiller Folk collective explores the storytelling, cultural, and protest power of folk music from as far back as the Child Ballads through as current as released today.

M & V on air w/a celebration of Valerie’s upcoming retirement after 36 years at the office. We start w/songs about work in all its many aspects (The Idiot, I’ve been Working on the Railroad, Working Man, Working for a Living, Five O’Clock World, Chain Gang, John Henry, Dark as a Dungeon, Crooked Jack, Cotton Mill Girls, In Tall buildings, Manic Monday, White Collar Holler, 9 to 5); think about retirement for a minute (Our Life Is More Than Our Work, Turn! Turn! Turn!); Val decides’ she’s ready (Factory Girl, Shiftwork, We Gotta Get Out Of This Place, I’m Ready to Go); there’s a goodbye song (Parting Glass) and a look at retirement from the perspective of those left behind (She’s Leaving Because She Really Wants To); we let the good times roll (I Feel Lucky, Already Gone, Let the Good Times Roll); share a couple of visions of retirement (Tae the Beggin’, Young at Heart, Knee Deep); and end w/a benediction (Gone, Oh Happy Day).
