Stonewalling Police Reforms In The MO Legislature

State Representative Brandon Ellington has been locked in a battle with State Representative Shawn Rhoads, chair of the Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Committee over four bills that would reform how the police interact with citizens. Rep Ellington has charged that Rep Rhoads is blocking his bills because he is a bigot while Rep Rhoads claims Rep Ellington is a baby and hasn’t made an effort come to him to make a compromise. Representative Rhoads is an active Law Enforcement Officer and most of the other members of the committee were formerly in Law Enforcement as well. Rep Ellington claims he has been sending emails and calling Rep Rhoads every Monday for weeks and received no invitation to meet.

Host Jeff Humfeld talks with Reverend Wallace Hartzfeld SR and Reverend Ester Holzendorff of the Human Dignity and Economic Justice Coalition about a press conference they held in support of the legislation and condemning Chairman Rhoads for his obstruction of the bills. They feel this a matter of respect for Representative Ellington and his constituents.
