WINGS: Women's International News Gathering Service is an all-woman independent radio production company that produces and distributes news and current affairs programs by and about women around the world.
Former US Congresswoman Bella Abzug, founder of the Women’s Environment and Development Organization, convened the World Women’s Congress for a Health Planet to bring women’s united voices to the UN’s Rio Earth Summit in 1992 and to demand women have an equal role in decision-making on the environment. WEDO is still active in 2015, but progress on the agenda hammered out in Miami is still painfully slow.
