Sprouts Radio from the Grassroots is a 30-minute weekly program featuring radio programs produced at community radio stations or by other independent producers from across the country and sometimes around the world.
This week on Sprouts, we focus on the gender spectrum and hear from individuals who exist outside of the gender binary. We explore the fluidity of gender identification through the stories of our five guests.
“Approaching Gender Deliberately” examines how individuals identify along the gender spectrum and the effects of the gender binary on people who reject its roles. We explore the stories of five Pittsburghers who approach their gender identification distinctively. Artnoose is a single mother and letterpress printer. Jessica McGuinness is a Trans* advocate in Western Pennsylvania. John Tribley is a married, cross-dressing cisgender male. Michael David Battle is a Transgender male and founder of The Garden of Peace Project. Kim Moore is a gender neutral student.
WPPJ hosts Kiley Koscinski and Jenni Bloodworth spoke with these five individuals about how they approach their gender deliberately.
