Kansas City Society for Contemporary is pleased to announce a premier portfolio event at El Torreon during “Open Spaces 2018: A Kansas City Arts Experience Expanded Field.” As part of Kan- sas City’s First Arts Biennial, thirty invited photographic artists will display their work and be on hand to discuss their process.

After it’s opening gala in 1927, the El Torreon ballroom was a centerpiece in the big band and jazz history of Kan- sas City. In the 1970s the music venue was affectionately known as the Cowtown Ballroom.

Author Silvia Kofler joins us to talk about Haunted Words Phil Miller Scholarship Reading & Open Mic Sunday October 21, 3PM – 5PM, The Wrtiers Place 3607 Pennsylvannia KCMO

The challenge, should you decide to accept it, share your thoughts on a ghostly encoundter of any description or disposition in a poem, for the open mic at the Phil Miller Memorial Scholarship Reading. To sign up ahead of time, email [email protected] or you may sign up at the event if slots are still available. This event includes a silent auction of original artwork by local/regional artists and book baskets by local/regional writers.
