Project: “The Art of the Awakening”

Jen Harris and Summer Osborne join us in the studio to discuss their collaborative project, “The Art of the Awakening” on Saturday March 1, 7pm-9pm at the Uptown Arts Bar at 3611 Broadway KCMO. Their intention is to awaken you to a new perception, peaceful ambition, and purpose.

Summer Osborne is an award winning American singer-songwriter who entertains audiences throughout the US and Canada with her magical brand of melodic and lyrically potent genre-jumping performances. She masterfully amalgamates the human condition, spirituality, truth, love and healing. When Osborne’s kaleidoscope of music is infused with her charismatic stage presence and naturally humorous personality, every show leaves the listener wanting more.

Jennifer Harris is an award-winning journalist (KACP 2009 Journalist of the Year), spoken word poet, and co-owner of Createful Studios, LLC. She began her career in spoken word in 2012 on the stage of the Starry Plough in Berkeley, California, where she learned that poetry is a boundless art form. Spoken word poetry is a competitive sport where wordsmiths defy the confines of iambic pentameter and cliché metaphors to create a sense of unity by contorting every day experiences into performance art. Harris moved from San Francisco back to her hometown of Kansas City in 2013 where she feverishly began working on projects with the Uptown Arts Bar, the LIKEME Lighthouse, The Writers Place, and friend/colleague Summer Osborne.
