ARTSPEAK RADIO is a live radio program on KKFI that airs every Wednesday from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Host Maria Vasquez Boyd serves up information about the visual and literary arts community including live interviews with artists, writers, and performers.
Maria talks with Cultural Arts Coordinator with Mattie Rhodes Art Gallery Anthony Rea, InterUrbanArtHouse founder/Executive Director Nicole Emanuel along with Chief Operating Officer Angi Hejduk and artist/educator Joy Baker, also owner of Steel’s Bookstore David Steel joins us in the studio.

DECEMBER 2 / 2016 – JANUARY 21 / 2017
A CALIFORNIA WINTER explores the work and artistic practice of 11 Latinx/Chicanx & Central Valley Artists who have migrated from California and made Kansas City home. This group of artists, illustrators, installation artists and printmakers are constructing their careers and lives post graduation from the Kansas City Art Institute and are quickly leaving an imprint of their ideas, experiences and imaginations on Kansas City’s growing arts landscape.

Nicole Emanuel-InterUrbanArtHouse was founded and developed by local community artist, Nicole Emanuel. We began in 2011 as a series of conversations with artists, arts organizations and civic and business leaders. It was clear there was a void in arts resources and studio facilities for Northeast Kansas.
InterUrban ArtHouse‘s programs have been developed to serve needs identified through our research and community outreach. We continually develop five innovative programs through community, art and civic partnerships: ArtMatters, ArtWorks, ArtsConnect, ArtSmart, and ArtHeals.
