Artspeak Radio Live with Bill Haw, Taylor Irwin & Martha Gershun

Host/producer of ARTSPEAK RADIO, Maria Vasquez Boyd talks with gallery owner Bill Haw Jr., writer Taylor Irwin, and community activist Martha Gershun.

Bill Haw Jr.-Haw Contemporary displays works by local and international artists, Haw Contemporary attempts to bring a wide perspective on art to its Stockyard district location and does it with flair and panache despite its young age (it was founded in September 2013). Bill Haw, the owner, assures that in picking out the gallery’s artists and works, ‘it’s all about finding what’s great, and what fits’ – he does not limit the art space to one given genre or style. Indeed, the gallery’s comprehensive outlook on culture and art is attested by its diverse activities. The Crossroads building recently vacated by the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art is being purchased by Kansas City civic leader Bill Lyons who plans to lease part of it to an expanded Haw Contemporary. Bill Haw Jr. plans to leases about 2,500 square feet on the east side of the building at 19th & Baltimore to allow him to grow beyond his current operation in the West Bottoms.
