Joe Williams
ENDOWMENT FOR VETERANS ART CAMPAIGN (EVAC)

THE MISSION OF EVAC’S SOCIAL VENTURE IS TO CREATE A NEW ORGANIZATION AND CULTURE THAT SUPPORTS AND ENCOURAGES VETERANS TO USE ART AS A TOOL FOR SELF-EXPRESSION, A MEANS TO COMMUNICATE WITH THEIR FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES, AND SUCCESSFULLY REASSIMILATE BACK INTO SOCIETY AND THEIR NEW LIVES AS DISABLED AMERICAN VETERANS.

Our purpose is to set up a network of physical and online resources that encourage and support our nation’s veterans to pursue their creative endeavors. By creating a new program and culture that is a positive self-constructive outlet, we can begin to break down the self-destructive habits veterans develop when returning to their families, communities and suffocating government based bureaucracy.

EVAC-art.com and Iron Will Studios gives veterans the support, platform, and space needed to create and showcase their creative work and talents regardless of abilities and disabilities. This allows veterans to find an empowering, constructive, & motivational outlet with a beneficial, rewarding product.

EVAC Philosophy- “Buy on Vet one” is the unique philosophy of this social venture. Any products and/or services purchased are in-turn given to a veteran and their family free of charge. This enables us to provide showcasing opportunities and provide basic art making materials for veterans and their families. All proceeds from EVAC are donated to Operation: Art 501 ©(3) veteran art programs.

Rachalle Gardner-Roe discusses her project Femin • Is, “equal part local history project, part contemporary examination, and part visual exhibition. With seed funding through an ArtsKC Inspiration Grant, Rachelle Gardner-Roe will interview artists active during the Women’s Liberation movement of the 1970’s in the Kansas City area as well as contemporary artists working with an evolving definition of feminism. This process will culminate in an exhibition of collaborative portraits, envisioned for Women’s History Month in March of 2017. Fusing emotional, political, and theoretical concerns with the the artist’s creative process, this project endeavors to capture personal histories and share contemporary perspectives while engaging an often charged aspect of our culture.

“I’ll be conducting interviews and releasing them as podcasts on a new online publishing platform called KC Art Pie, and launching a crowd-sourced fundraiser during October.”
