ARTSPEAK RADIO presents, Poet Sheri Hall, Art Historian Paula Rose, & Moon Drop Circus

Live from the KKFI studio, Maria talks with poet Sheri Hall, art historian Paula Rose, and Robin Rosenberger with Moon Drop Circus.

SHERI HALL
Sheri “Purpose” Hall is a wife, mother of 4, working woman, servant of God, and a poet. As an African-American child brought up by a single mother in the inner-city of Kansas City, Missouri, she used poetry to fight her way through life’s struggles, and still uses it therapeutically today. She is a dynamic spoken word artist, minister, teacher, and motivational speaker who uses concrete imagery, and her spiritually unique view to convey messages about life, hope, love, dismay, glory, and God. Her art addresses many issues including: low self-esteem, beauty, desperation, fornication and promiscuity, death, rape, depression, single parenthood, women’s issues and more. But unlike the art of other’s there is an element of glory at the end of each work that encourages the listener to keep pressing towards the light at the end of the tunnel.

Hall is a 2012 ArtsKC awards Featured Artist performing for their annual event at the Starlight Theater; performed for the first annual Malcolm X celebration at the Capital building in Jefferson City; and performed for Rev. Al Sharpton and the National Action Network during their Kansas City event. She has also performed at the Blue Room, Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, and the Unicorn Theater. Purpose has shared the stage with such notable persons as Jazz singers Ida McBeth, Luqman Hamza, Mother Mary, and Lisa Henry; Gospel Music Recording Artist James Fortune; motivational speaker and author Gary Dumas; and 116 clique Recording Artist J’Son. She has also shared the mic with spoken word artists such as Glenn North, P4CM poets Preston and Jackie Hill Perry, Tony Award Winning Poet Lemon Andersen, and many more.
