Black Rage, Black Grief from the Grassroots

The killings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile last week brought a new wave of shock to the American public, and among black communities, feelings of grief and rage were mingled with a steadfast determination for change. Community radio was there to help its listeners make sense of it all. In Baton Rouge (WHYR), the All-American Sports Show hosts Eric Hatfield and Coach Perry Daniels conducted a 3 hour special broadcast; in Minneapolis (KFAI), Soul Tools Radio hosts Toki Wright and Britney Lynch gave their community 2 hours. This week on Sprouts, we bring you excerpts from these heart-wrenching community conversations.

Featured speakers/guests:

Valerie Castile, Alize Castile, Diamond Reynolds, Jamila Woods, Toki Wright, Britney Lynch, Eric Hatfield, Coach Perry Daniels, Lauren Hill
