Burns Sisters

Art of the Song explores creativity from an Irish-American perspective with Annie and Marie Burns. Having toured the country as back up singers with the likes of Arlo Guthrie and Jimmy LaFave, the Burns Sisters have released 6 albums of their own. I was unable to be there for the interview, so our Chief Community Builder, Katie Mitchell sat in. We’ve been enjoying the Burns Sisters performances and harmonies at the Woody Guthrie Festival for five years now, and we finally got a chance to visit with them. It was really neat to hear the stories of their upbringing in New York state, and learn about how they explored their Irish roots.
