Can WE Change This Thing? The Community Speaks Out About Crossroads Correctional Lockdown

In mid May some of the prisoners at Crossroads Correctional Center in Cameron, MO refused to leave the chow hall after the evening meal. Last week on Jaws of Justice Radio the DOC presented their case that as the guards backed off a few prisoners broke out windows and gained access to the warehouse that held food and canteen items, offices and the production facilities for the prison industries. They also explained the delays in getting the facility opened back up for normal operations and the inmates off lockdown.

On this week’s broadcast we want to hear from family and friends of the inmates about their side of the story and their concerns about the welfare of their loved ones. We will open the phone lines and ask the questions you have for the DOC, tell others what you have heard from your loved ones or if you have heard from them at all. What is it you want to hear from the DOC?

Host Latahra Smith of KC Freedom and Kaye Johnson of Transitions to Freedom Campaign will talk about the meeting they had with the DOC and the issues raised at that meeting. They will also speak about the survey handed out to selected inmates so they could poll those in their unit. The phone lines will be open and we will take your questions and concerns to be shared with the DOC in future communications with them.
