Carmen Moreno: Blood of the Earth followed and music of Indonesia and Iran.

In her own words, Carmen Moreno expresses the purpose of Blood of the Earth: “Over the course of Carmen’s childhood her father was deported several times, the final resulting in our separation for 12 years. I am embarking on this project because I want to talk about my experiences and how policy has directly impacted my life. I think I have something to offer to those in crisis, and I want to bring awareness to these issues not only as an activist, but through the intimacy of storytelling and poetry of art. Often we become nullified and apathetic from news and media. By entering into the interpersonal experiences of Latin American oppress ions I hope to create a path of empathy that can move beyond prejudice and basis, as well as provide a space for solidarity.” We explore that and more in person…. 4-5 pm
