The Local ShowCase features live or recorded performances of music, poetry, prose, etc. of local and regional artists. This showcase is hosted by a variety of KKFI programmers covering a broad spectrum of musical genres.
Join Voodoo Kittens blues show cohost Stray Cat for the Local Showcase Thursday, Dec. 26 at 8pm with guests the Kyle Sexton Band and Crosseyed Cat.
Kyle Sexton Band is a blues rock trio of young hip musical professionals who made a big impression during the Kansas City Blues Society’s Blues Challenge. Kyle, singer/songwriter and guitar player, graduated from McNally Smith College of Music in 2012, and is continuing to develop as a musician. Drummer Adam Watson studied music at Kansas State University and has been in multiple university musical groups as well as bands “Little Wing”, “Southwind”, and “The Triad”. Connor Wingate has been playing the bass for 3 years and his talent far surpasses his years of experience.
Crosseyed Cat will visit me in the 9 pm hour. Named after the song by Muddy Waters, Crosseyed Cat serves up an entertaining mix of Blues, Rock & Swing! Karen Baum writes songs, belts out the Blues that will melt your heart. Jeff Graefe on lead guitar is one of the best in KC. Chris Ryan on smokin’ Blues harmonica and soulful vocals, joins super songwriter Tom Tipton on bass and vocals, while Mitch Sutherland drives the groove behind the drums!.
