Consolidated Social Work Services and the Saga Of The Model Block

No More Neglect, No More Condensing Attitudes

This is the third installment of the Told You So Consortium shows before Tom Klammer comes back and rescues the listeners from the babble of the rabble. Talking about rabble our guests this time are two of Kansas City’s finest Rabble Rousers. We are going to find out how having a city block with properties owned by a man in Paris, France, a corporation in Australia, and various individuals and corporations across America is destroying our neighborhoods. We will also learn what happens when citizens try to get the city, local contractors and others to care what happens in a much neglected part of the city. It ain’t pretty folks. But there is a wishing Well and plans for a butterfly garden.

Ester Holzendorf is President of the Board for Consolidated Social Work Services, a local grassroots not-for-profit. Ester has the no nonsense demeanor of a former Corrections Employee and the heart of a lifelong Social Worker. It has taken those attributes along with seminary training to keep CSWS on track and the Model Block Project moving forward.

Dave Kingsly is retired from being a professor at KU Medical School teaching future doctors the economics of the medical field or how economics effects doctors or some such topics. He is also on the Board of Consolidated Social Work Services and has done a great deal of work in the Gardening work on the 3800 Block of Chestnut and other parts of the neighborhood (along with Ben Kjelsus).

Our Hosts today will be Mike Murphy, a pretty good gardener himself and Jeff Humfeld producer of Jaws of Justice Radio and also a member of the CSWS board.
