Care of Poor People and Grand Avenue Temple – Winter Survival For The Homeless

Richard Tripp, through his organization Care of Poor People (COPP) has been holding an event to get winter clothes, blankets, gloves, hygiene products and more to the homeless of Kansas City for over 30 years. Richard started COPP while he was homeless himself and living under the Broadway Bridge. Although he has written two books, shared the stage with the likes of Mother Teresa and traveled the globe to tell his story Richard never gets far from “his people.”

This year Grand Avenue Temple is sponsoring a scaled down event at the Church at 9th and Grand on Saturday, November 29th. We will give you information on how you can help and the items needed to help the homeless survive the coming wintr.

With the election over, we look at the changes in the legislature and prospects for the 2015 MO legislative session. We will talk with Representative Brandon Ellington, recently elected to head the MO House Black Caucus about what his plans are for addressing the problems that face the state. We will also be Joined by Representative Judy Morgan about the issues that will be important to Kansas City during this next session.
