Death by Holiday

The holiday shopping season is almost upon us, but how did the holy day of Christmas get buried under a frenzy of giving and getting presents? Host John Kurmann will talk with Lisa Mastny of the Center for a New American Dream about how Christmas was conquered by our consumer society and the consequences for us and the rest of the living world. Also, what’s life like for turkeys before they end up at the center of our Thanksgiving feasts? John will talk with Amanda Good, the Missouri State Director for the Humane Society of the United States, about the  horrific conditions in the intensive-confinement animal factories where most turkeys are raised now plus where to find a turkey that had a good life.
