Dixie Chicks and The Rev. Jimmie Bratcher

The Dixie Chicks will be back in Kansas City this week for a long awaited show at The Sprint Center.  The girls have never left Diana Linn’s playlists on The Tasty Brew Music Radio Show.

“It’s easier to write songs that are about other people,” says Natalie Maines. “It’s much harder to put yourself out there, but the songs are so much better and mean so much more when you can let yourself be vulnerable, and be honest with your emotions and your beliefs.” Of course, that’s a subject that the Dixie Chicks know a few things about, since their first album, hits such as “Wide Open Spaces” and “Cowboy Take Me Away” have stirred emotions in fans across the world making them one of the biggest bands of our time. Not just “big for a country band” or “big for a big female band,” the Dixie Chicks are a multi-platinum selling act in North America, Europe and Australia.

The Reverend Jimmie Bratcher will be Diana Linn’s in studio guest.  His lightning-strike performances crackle with high-voltage guitar playing and emotionally charged vocals. Bratcher makes the hairs rise on the arms of the crowds he entertains in the map of clubs, festivals, bike rallies, churches and prisons that he calls “the road.” He is literally a preacher, as comfortable testifying in the pulpit about the power of Jesus as he is in smoky bars celebrating the vigor of the blues. Bratcher’s shows — regardless of location — are worry-free zones, where the healing, good-time mojo of rockin’ blues sets hearts and minds, and maybe even souls, free. The Reverend is a feature artist for this week’s Mike Shannon’s pre Golf Tournament Party with The Bon Ton Soul Accordion Band, Rick Gibson Band and Connie Hawkins and the Blueswreckers.  Proceeds of the September 7 Golf Tournament go to the Michael Shannon Musician’s Fund to help musicians and music industry professionals who suffer economic hardship due to catastrophic events. This fund is administered by the Kansas City Blues Society, a 501 (c)(3) corporation.
