Donald Trump IS NOT a Populist!

Donald Trump has often been characterized as a “populist”.  Author and civil rights activist Devin Burkhart argues that this analysis is not accurate.  In a lecture given at the United We Stand Conference in Kansas City in May 2017, Burkhart describes the populist history and tradition and contends that the Trump election really had little to do with true populism, but rather relied on a darker and more sinister tradition.

Devin Burghart is president of Institute for Research and Education on Human Rights. He has researched, written, and organized on virtually all facets of contemporary white nationalism since 1992, and is internationally recognized for this effort. Devin began as a research analyst with the Coalition for Human Dignity in Seattle, and was co-author of Guns & Gavels: Common Law Courts, Militias & White Supremacy in 1996.
