Dr. Anderson’s message to her school district, in part:  We are committed to continuous improvement. The focus of our mission is to ensure that each student develops a passion for learning through challenging curricula. We are a community of learners committed to excellence in education.

Our theme for the 2015-16 school year is: Students First: Transforming Schools and Communities. We are implementing numerous technology and capital improvements as a result of our community’s support to Proposition J. Jennings is reaching new heights and we invite you to visit one of our schools to volunteer and learn more.

We believe that collectively, sustainable school improvement can occur. In preparation for the 2012-13 school year, throughout the summer, we have been updating our web page in an effort to give the community greater access to district information that community members may find helpful. We encourage parents to visit their child’s school. Please take time to explore our links to each school on our web page and explore our district calendar for key dates in which you can become involved.

The 2015-16 school year will be an exciting school year. It is a privilege to serve the families of the Jennings School District. Thank you for your continued support. I welcome your feedback. Please feel free to contact me anytime at [email protected]. .

Sincerely,

Jennings History

Jennings School District has a long and distinguished history, extending back over 125 years to 1871. The School District of Jennings is located in North St. Louis County and is adjacent to the City of St. Louis. It is composed of three small townships, Jennings, Country Club Hills, and Flordell Hills, with a total population of approximately 20,000. The School District consists of over 3,000 K-12 students. We have eight schools and one alternative program. The district’s schools are Fairview Primary, Fairview Intermediate, Northview Elementary, Gary Gore Elementary, Woodland Elementary, Hanrahan Elementary, Jennings Middle School and Jennings Senior High. Each school has a principal and an instuctional specialist or coach supporting their implementation of a rigourous academic curriuclum. Jennings also has an alternative program that supports secondary school students who need an alternative programmatic setting outside of the traditional secodary environment. The alternative program is the Jennings Educational Training School (JETS) whose goal is to inspire academic excellence and civic responsibility. The Jennings School District engages in the learning process with honesty, creativity, dedication, and respect, and seeks to cultivate an atmosphere of freedom and trust in a safe and nurturing environment.

Mission

The mission of the Jennings School District is to ensure that each student develops a passion for learning through challenging curricula; rigorous academic standards; innovative, stimulating educational environments and a passion that education is a life long pursuit.
