Jaws of Justice Radio
It is the intention of Jaws of Justice Radio to investigate how to achieve justice in America, this includes issues of economic injustice, political injustice and the criminal justice system. We want to put a human face on those caught in the grasp of injustice and those that are part of an unjust system. We strive to dispel the misconceptions created by the news and entertainment industry, politicians and our educational system.

Gloria Nepote, CCDP, LAC, BRI II is the Clinical Liaison at Keystone Treatment Center and is well known in the recovery community in the Kansas City Area. Today Gloria will talk with Liz Henry and Cassandra Mitchell about Faces and Voices an effort to encourage recovering addicts to tell their story of recovery. They also work to influence public policy to create better opportunities for recovery within our communities. Gloria will also talk about her own recovery experience.

The monthly meeting of the Criminal Justice Task Force will be today, Monday, February 3rd from 6:45 to 8:45PM at the Church of the Good Shepard, 4947 Chouteau Drive, KCMO. They are asking that you bring non perishable food items or canned goods for the Good Shepard Back Pack Program that provides food for needy children to take home with them from school. The Kansas City Chapter of Missouri Association for Social Welfare’s First Friday Forum will be Friday, February 7th 11:30am – 1:00pm at the Westport Flea Market, 817 Westport Rd, KCMO. This month’s Forum will feature Jobs With Justice, the Metropolitan Organization for Racial and Economic Equality, and Communities Creating Opportunity.

The Kansas City Chapter of Missourian’s For Altenatives to the Death Penalty will meet Tuesday, February 4th from 6:30 to 8pm at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church, 4501 Walnut, KCMO. Cathleen Burnett, UMKC Professor Emerita will speak on the myth of the Death Penalty’s detterence to murder. They will also discuss efforts to picket the combining pharmcy in Oklahoma that is suppliying Missouri with drugs for executions.
