February Sisters: The Fight for Women’s Rights at KU

Christine Smith and Jo Anderson, two of the ‘February Sisters’, at KU in 1972, tell how over 200 women organized and 30 women took over a Hall on KU Campus to demand rights for women students and employees. They held the Hall hostage from dusk  until dawn, while negotiating with KU to get six demands met. This was historic as it was the first time women took over a building to demand civil rights for women.
