Each week the Pacifica Radio Archives chooses a program "From the Vault" of broadcasts in a half-hour program.
On this week’s From The Vault, we continue with a reading of George Orwell‘s classic novel, 1984, with Part EIGHT of our 10-part dramatic reading.
The entire book was read on-air by longtime Pacifica Morning show host Charles Morgan and legendary voice over artist June Foray in 1975.
We left off as our heroes Winston and Julia took a HUGE gamble to meet with a Powerful man, O’Brien, who they believed was an ally to fight the system they abhor. A conspiratorial government set on staying in power at any cost: Oppressive laws including thought crimes, propaganda news casts, rewriting history and Literature, monitoring a person’s every move at work, in public, and at home. Could O’Brien be the person that helps them turn things around? We find out now.
