Juveniles can be tried as an adult as young as 12, 13 or 14 according to what state you are in. Any child psychologist and brain scientist will tell you that the human brain is not fully formed until sometime in your mid 20’s. So what can be expected of young people that get into trouble and end up behind bars? Should we treat them as juvenile predators with no hope of redemption or youth who have gone astray and need care and help to get them back on the right Track?

On today’s show Host Attorney David Bell talks with Andre Carson, a Client Advocate for KC NoVA, Former CEO and alumni with Reaching out From Within, a non-profit organization focused on mentoring felons and ex-felons re-entering into our society. He has worked and volunteered in Community Outreach for 19 years and is an ex-felon. They will be joined by Melissa Patterson Hazley, a doctoral candidate in Educational Psychology with over ten years experience working in Education with special interest in first generation and multicultural student issues. Melissa works as the Director of Outreach, Education and Engagement for the KC Chapter of the Urban League and is also part-time psychology faculty at a local community college.
