House Sit-in and BREXIt

These are interesting times, as evidenced by last week’s unprecedented political events: in the U.S., the sit-in by Democratic House members to demand action by Republicans on common-sense gun legislation; in Europe, the shocking vote by the U.K. to leave the European Union.

Independent producer Barry Vogel (Radio Curious) speaks with Rep. Sam Farr (D-CA20) at midnight on the first day of the sit-in, and captures the human dimension of this historic event. Host Greta Anderson (Pacifica) speaks with Ellie Knight of Lewes, East Sussex, England, who led up her small town’s Stronger IN campaign about her and her neighbors’ shock, the quandary the country is in, the rise of the extreme right wing, and the need to engage disaffected voters and non-voters in the long-term.
