Ivanhoe Neighborhood Council: Revitalizing KC’s Inner City

In Episode 4 of ReVibnKC, MiKO talks with Margaret May, the Executive Director of the Ivanhoe Neighborhood Council. The Ivanhoe neighborhood is an example of how neighborhoods can turn things around! It all started in 1997 when Alan A. Young and his wife led prayer vigils that resulted in closing 6 drug houses, the revitalization of the neighborhood and the formation of the Ivanhoe Neighborhood Council. Once listed as one of the highest crime areas in the city, today, Ivanhoe is one of the most organized neighborhoods in the urban core, and has become a model for other neighborhoods to follow, both in KC and in other urban cities. Mrs. May talks about how it all came about and what is happening in the neighborhood today.
