From the 1870s to the 1930s, there was a deadly war in West Virginia between coal corporations with hired governors and thugs and coal miners with their union and the legendary Mother Jones. James Green, whose new book, The Devil is Here in These Hills, will be on the Heartland Labor Forum to talk about it. Then, we’ll ask if jailing former coal CEO Don Blankenship, responsible for the Upper Big Branch mine disaster, is a victory for the miners. Thursday at 6pm, rebroadcast Friday at 5am.
