“The Tasty Brew” is an eclectic mix of roots music formed by the shared and varied traditions that make up the American musical melting pot.
American music icon Joan Baez‘s 75th birthday in January 2016 was a so-called low-key, intimate affair at New York’s Beacon Theater featuring an all-star lineup of performers including Paul Simon, Damien Rice, Mary Chapin Carpenter, The Indigo Girls, David Crosby, Jackson Browne, Mavis Staples, Emmylou Harris and many others. The event which mostly featured duets matched with one or two instrumental accompanists was taped by PBS for broadcast on Great Performances and the audio is available on a double CD. Diana Linn will be featuring music from that compilation this week.
In studio live musical guest Jesse Harris, will bring listeners up to date on the reunion of Kansas City based Americana/Red Dirt Music group The Gypsy Sparrows.
