Wednesday marks the 150th anniversary of Quantrill’s raid on Lawrence, KS, when the abolitionist town was burnt to the ground. Well, they’ve had quite a comeback since then and are a vibrant community here in the next millenium. On Your Wednesday Morning Buzz this week, I’ll be celebrating this town by featuring Lawrence based musical artists, songs about Lawrence, the civil war, etc.
Look for Lawrence artists, Truckstop Honeymoon, Dumptruck Butterlips, The Bopaphonics, Uncle Dirtytoes, Alferd Packer Memorial String Band, and others.
Songs about Quantrill’s raid on Lawrence from The Shortleaf Band, and The Euphoria String Band, and yeah, I guess it wouldn’t hurt to hear from the Jayhawks.
