Local Showcase
The Local ShowCase features live or recorded performances of music, poetry, prose, etc. of local and regional artists. This showcase is hosted by a variety of KKFI programmers covering a broad spectrum of musical genres.
Holiday greetings from Diana Linn, your Host this week for the Local Showcase airing Thursday, December 13 at 8 p.m. In addition to highlighting the best of local Americana, Blues and Roots artists, Diana Linn will be joined in the studio by the ferocious Betse Ellis, currently recording a solo project (click here for info). Betse connects with her audience performing “old time/new time” material, drawn from traditional American (especially Ozark) fiddle tunes, old songs and spirituals, original tunes and songs, and a dose of her “personal old-time music”, influenced by avant-garde artists like Talking Heads, punk pioneers The Clash, and 19th century art music composer Gabriel-Marie. Also joining Diana Linn will be Sky Smeed and Adam Lee, two-thirds of the singer/songwriter circle (sans Lawrence native Tyler Gregory) that all together will be making a return engagement to The Gospel Lounge at Knuckleheads on December 20, 2012 (click here for info).
