Jaws of Justice Radio
It is the intention of Jaws of Justice Radio to investigate how to achieve justice in America, this includes issues of economic injustice, political injustice and the criminal justice system. We want to put a human face on those caught in the grasp of injustice and those that are part of an unjust system. We strive to dispel the misconceptions created by the news and entertainment industry, politicians and our educational system.
Local Vets Helping Local Vets and More
Host Jessica Thomas with local Veteran Roland Morris of Veteran’s Focus Liaison Committee about helping other veterans access services at the VA. The Committee helps break down veteran’s perception that the VA won’t help and then show them how to make the system work for them.

October is Stop Mass Incarceration Month
Host Margot Patterson talks with Joey Johnson, a revolutionary who is active with the Stop Mass Incarceration Network in the San Francisco Bay Area. Joey Johnson was arrested in Ferguson, Missouri, in August for standing with the courageous resisters there.

The Black Panther Party Legacy Celebration in Kansas City will feature a number of events starting with an exhibition and Q&A session of the Art of Emory Douglas Thursday, October 16 from 6-9pm at Ethnic Arts Gallery,
5930 Troost, KCMO.
Then the Gala Celebration will be Friday October 17th from 6-9pm at Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Center, 3700 Blue Pkwy, KCMO. This event will begin with a meet-and-greet with original members of the Black Panther Party (6-6:30pm), and a reception featuring Harold O’Neal, jazz pianist, dance performances, videos and more. Donations are requested to help defray cost.
On Saturday October 18th A Day of Reflection and Call to Action will be held from 10am-6pm at The Black Archives of Mid-America, 1722 E 17th Terr, KCMO. The public is welcome to attend all or part of the sessions to be held throughout the day.
Finally on Sunday October 19th Honoring Our Community: Focus on KC Community Activists of Yesterday and Today will be held from 4- 6:30pm at St. Mark Child and Family Development Center, 2008 E. 12th St, KCMO. The program will include speakers, awards, and a dance tribute.

The KCMO Human Relations Department, Civil Rights Division is holding their annual Greater Kansas City Housing Summit, Saturday October 18th from 8am to 1pm at Swope Parkway United Christian Church, 6140 Swope Parkway, KCMO. Topics of discussion are employment discrimination, reverse mortgages, tenant/landlord relations and dealing with abandoned properties. The KCMO Chapter of NAACP and Kansas City Chapter of Missourians for Alternative to the Death penalty are sponsoring a Community Book Club event to discuss the book I Am Troy Davis, Tuesday October 14th 6:30pm, at Bruce Watkins Cultural Center, 3700 Blue Pkwy, KCMO. You do not have to have read the book to join the discussion Troy Davis’ execution raises about the death penalty.
