Luis Garcia: Writer, Artist, Gallery Owner

Luis Garcia joins Maria Vasquez Boyd in the KKFI studio to discuss new literary and visual projects.

As a multi-faceted artist/designer, art gallery director/curator, Luis’ immersive life in the arts provides a unique and unparalleled depth to the artistic communications work for his clients at spyn design studio, in the Crossroads Arts District. Since receiving his B.F.A. from the Kansas City Art institute in 2004, Luis has had the pleasure to work with clients such as A. Zahner Co., The Kansas City Museum, StoneLion Puppet Theatre, 2101Broadway, Vista Condominiums and The Leedy-Voulkos Art Center. Beyond helping clients shape their company’s branding and design standards with backbone, Luis is driven to give back to our community through his art + design initiatives and for the past 7 years, showing artist through his art gallery called, Base, every First Friday (93). That’s a plethora of Art showings! Luis is currently serving on several Board of Directors and committees such as the Art + Copy Club, as Special Event Co-Chair, a component of the American Advertising Federation, Urban Culture Project Curatorial Committee and as Vice President of Hispanic Capital Day Inc, based in St. Louis. Luis remains connected to his roots as an actor, painter and sculptor through the ongoing creation of commissioned works for private collections.
