Mark & Val with our annual Irish Fest show!

We’re only doing one Irish Fest show this year, so, given as we’re Foolkiller folk, we’re mostly concentrating on the more Trad bands. You’ll be hearing from: Ruaile Buaile (a young Irish based four piece modern day Trad / Pop / Folk group from Offaly in the heart of Ireland); Kansas City’s own balladeer Eddie Delahunt; multiple all-Ireland champions We Banjo 3 (a four-piece band (yeah, go figure) from Galway and one of our current favorites); Tullamore (a KCMO band in its 20th season which has performed across the country and across the ocean, from arts centers and pubs to Irish Festivals and Scottish Highland Games); the Maguire Brothers (who regularly perform a standing gig at Llewellyn’s venues around Kansas City as well as at many Renaissance Festivals in the region); good friend Turlach Boylan (Irish born KC flute player/teacher also accomplished on tenor banjo and mandolin who’s making his first KCIF appearance in a duo w/Eddie Edwards (another good friend and accomplished musician); Derek Warfield (founding member and long-serving front man of the legendary Wolfe Tones, appearing at the KCIF with the Young Wolf Tones); Bob Reeder (KC-based Irish folk singer with a huuge fan base); quintessential Irish-American band and one of the most influential groups in the history of Irish music, Solas, with 11 albums and numerous awards to their credit (passing through KC with all the members of the band (past and present) on their ‘ALL THESE YEARS’ year-long world tour); chart-topping, multi-national Celtic band Gaelic Storm (if you don’t remember then from their performances in the movie ‘Titanic’ you surely will from their numerous appearances at the KCIF); High Kings (Ireland’s Folk Band of the year (and a new find to us)); our two favorite songs by Celtic Rock band Black 47 (because Larry Kirwin has undertaken a solo career after 25 years leading the band (which is how he’s performing at the KCIF)); new internationally honoured “super-group” RUNA (winning Top Group and Top Traditional Group in the Irish Music Awards and an Independent Music Award for Best World/Traditional Song); and Evans and Doherty (an integral part of the East Coast music scene for 34 years). Tune in at 11:00!
