Melissa Monforti a singer-songwriter, recording artist, performer and author based in Golden, Colorado. She started writing songs in 1999 and began recording and writing about her life as a songwriter in March 2015. It took her a while to live into her authentic life as a musician, but she’s living it fully without excuses now.
Born on the summer solstice of 1970 in Brooklyn, NY, Melissa grew up in a family of amateur and very talented musicians, always surrounded by people willing to whip up Latin dance parties and sing doo-wop in rich harmonies at every gathering.
She still engages a wonderful community of music-lovers. Her husband, son and step-children are all musicians of a sort, and she runs two other businesses related to music education.
Melissa says, “My life, like my music, is a work in progress.”
We visited with Melissa in front of a live audience at the Art of the Song Coffeehouse in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In the second half of the show, we’ll hear from Harvard University lecturer, Dr. Shelley Carson with an introduction to her book, Your Creative Brain… for the Creativity Corner.
