WINGS: Women's International News Gathering Service is an all-woman independent radio production company that produces and distributes news and current affairs programs by and about women around the world.
In 1971, Janette Lavelle filed suit against a 19th century law that violated native women’s human rights in Canada. Her daughter continues the story in a 2016 speech to the Motherhood Initiative for Research and Community Involvement.
Dr. Dawn Memee Lavelle-Harvard is a proud member of the Wikwemikong First Nation, the first Aboriginal Trudeau Scholar, and has worked to advance the rights of Aboriginal women as the President of the Ontario Native Women’s Association and the Native Women’s Association of Canada. She has three daughters. She co-edited the books: “Until Our Hearts Are on the Ground: Aboriginal Mothering, Oppression, Resistance and Rebirth” and “Mothers of the Nations: Indigenous Mothering as Global Resistance, Reclaiming and Recovery.”
