Mindy Dillard

Our guest on Art of the Song is Mindy Dillard. A self-described musical alchemist , she plays clawhammer banjo and guitar to accompany her crystal-clear voice. She is known for her  unique storytelling style which blends spoken word and song. Mindy performs internationally her one-woman folk-rock opera based on Grimm’s fairytales and her own eating disorder recovery. In 2015 Mindy Dillard won the Susanne Millsaps performing songwriter competition. Her musical influences include Joni Mitchell, Dar Williams and Stephen Sondheim. Through her music she seeks to transform the ordinary into the magical, and poison into medicine. We visited with Mindy in our Albuquerque studios the day after the 2016 election. Trying to make sense out of what had just happened, our discussion led to some interesting insights as to how to move forward.
