Molly McLaughlin

Molly McLaughlin is a musician without borders.

Molly holds a Master of Fine Arts from the California Institute of the Arts and a Bachelor of Music from the Hartt School, specializing in contemporary, Classical, and traditional Irish flute.

Molly has toured with Jethro Tull, recorded at Capitol Records, and performed at the Folk Alliance International Conference. In 2007, Molly was chosen to complete a residency at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre in Ireland for personal study and transcription of Irish music. She has competed in and won multiple competitions including the grand prize of the 2006 vanRooy Competition for Musical Excellence, first prize in the 2011 Redlands Young Artist Competition, and was awarded an alto flute in the 2008 Brio! Flutes Alternative Flute Competition.

Additionaly, Molly is a composer, song writer, and vocalist. Her most recent project, A Beautiful Dying, is an original musical ceremony exploring the inseverable dance of death and life through song, dance, and poetry.

Based in Kansas City, MO, Molly performs regularly with the Black House New Music Collective and the Midwest Chamber Ensemble.
