Moms On Mentoring – MOM

Mothers on Mentoring is a project of Transitional Freedom Campaign that pairs girls 6-18 with mothers to build mother daughter relationships and a sisterhood among the participants. The program is designed to fight the effects of the media and entertainment industry’s over sexualized images of girls and women and teach them a power of a positive self image. They help girls make life choices that allow them to explore careers in science, the arts, medicine, business and more. MoM encourages girls and young women to choose life paths that create opportunities rather than dead ends..

Update on Medical Marijuana and Hemp Bills In MO Legislature

The Missouri Legislature is considering multiple bills concerning medical marijuana, recreational marijuana and a bill that would open the door to hemp production in Missouri. These bills are meeting varying degrees of support with in the legislature.

Jessica Thomas talks with Eapen Thampy of Americans For Forfeiture Reform about prospects for the Medical Marijuana and hemp bills in the Missouri legislature. They will be joined by George Biswell of New Approach Missouri talking about their petition drive for legalization.

The Coalition Against Contamination will host a Town Hall for former employees at the Bannister Federal Complex, Wednesday, February 28th, Morning session 10:00am-Noon, evening session 6:00pm-8:00pm at the Southeast Community Center, 4201 East 63rd St, KCMO. These sessions will include discussion and answers on the claims process, up to date information on the Federal Whistler Blower Investigation and includes all former employees and subcontractors.

Cherith Brook Catholic Worker House was opened in 2007 as a center of nonviolence and hospitality. They Provide fellowship, meals, showers and a mailing address for some people who do not have an address. However, beginning in May 2017 the police have been conducting searches for suspects at Cherith Brook sometimes with guns drawn. Eric and Jodi Garbison have each been charged with two counts of resisting arrest for trying to deny police access to their home. You are invited to show your support for Eric and Jodi at their trial Friday, March 2nd, 1:30 pm at the KCMO Municipal Court, 1101 Locust St.

The Kansas City Chapter of Empower Missouri’s First Friday Forum will be Friday, March 2nd 11:30am – 1:00pm at the Westport Flea Market, 817 Westport Rd, KCMO. The KC Area Chapter of Parents of Murdered Children and Other Survivors of Homicide will hold their monthly meeting Friday March 2nd, beginning at 7:30 PM at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 2552 Gillham Road, KCMO. POMC meets to provide support and assistance through on-going emotional support, education, prevention, advocacy and awareness to all survivors of homicide victims.
