  1. Hello: My name is Rev. Markquatt Ford of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Kansas City, KS, and a student of Western Baptist Bible College. I meet you at Rev. Dr. Stanley Counts Home Going Services. I pray that you will be able to help, my son (not biologically, but I raised him) D’Khari Lyons is currently being charged for the murder of a baby that he tried to save in Manhattan, Kansas. This young African American man life has been turned upside down. He has been oppressed and unjustly incarcerated for a crime that he did not commit. His life has been threatened and almost taken.
This is a case where facts, and the character of all individuals involved are being completely ignored and disregarded. Because of this, a young man’s life is in desperate, and urgent need from all who are willing and able to help. A child of God, D’Khari Lyons has been accused of a crime that involves no physical evidence. Therefore, it stands to reason that he should not be the one and only possible suspect. Furthermore, he was not given an attorney or had the opportunity to speak with an attorney for 15 days even after asking for one from day one.
This is a case where a young man is being accused solely because of his African American heritage. Our judicial system is clearly taking advantage of the fact that they have a young man who lacks the much-needed resources that will give him the right to have all truths, arrayed and exposed; if given the proper resources D’Khari would ultimately be able to prove his innocence. Please help our family to save a young man’s future from becoming another case of unjust incarceration because indeed “Innocent Lives Matter.”
His mother(Karen Lyons 561-246-8128, [email protected]) who is in Florida, and does not have the funds to get here at this time started a GoFundMe for his legal fees; parties from the other side of the accuser sent a false report to the site saying it was a bogus fundraiser, so it was shut down. She has also tried to tell his story at least twice on Facebook; both times it was reported and taken down either temporarily or permanently in a few hours.
We are asking for research to be done on this case, for a thorough investigation of the jail, and especially the detectives on this case, also for enough noise that they drop these charges or enough publicity that an attorney will step forward to help this young brother.
    Thanks,
    Rev. Markquatt Ford
